South Dakota State will open the Summit League season with a trip to Kansas City Monday night. The team enters the Summit League at 4-7 overall and most recently picked up a 90-43 win over Dakota Wesleyan Wednesday night.
Myah Selland's 10.3 points per game leads the Jackrabbit scoring.
Paige Meyer averages 9.8 PPG, followed by
Paiton Burckhard (9.3) and
Tori Nelson (9.1).
Burckhard grabs 5.4 rebounds per game while Meyer gives out 3.5 assists, both team highs.
Kansas City is 10-1 on the year and on a 10-game win streak. The Roos beat Santa Clara 69-62 to wrap up the nonconference season last week.
Naomie Alnatas averages 18.5 points, 5.1 assists and 2.4 steals for the Roos, all team highs. Brooklyn McDavid add 17 PPG and grabs 7.8 rebounds per contest to lead KC. They have earned one Summit League Player of the Week honor each this season. Mandy Williams also contributes double figures, averaging 10.5 points.

- South Dakota State is 4-7 heading into the Summit League season. The Jacks beat Dakota Wesleyan Wednesday night 90-43 to wrap up nonconference action.
- Kansas City is 10-1 this year and on a 10-game win streak. After dropping their first game of the season to Southern Methodist on Nov. 9, the Roos won the next ten and ended nonconference with 69-62 win over Santa Clara.
- Myah Selland moved into the leading scorer position for the Jackrabbits after a 13-point performance against Dakota Wesleyan. She averages 10.3 points per game.

- Paiton Burckhard is the Jackrabbits' top rebounder with 5.4 per game and is the third highest scorer at 9.2 per contest.
- Tylee Irwin has played in 132 career games, which ranks fifth on the SDSU all-time list. Macy Miller's 144 career games ranks first for the Jacks.
- The Jackrabbits played the No. 2 toughest nonconference schedule among the Summit League teams. SDSU's conconference opponents are 64-24, a .727 winning percentage.
- Myah Selland has scored in every appearance of her career, 91 games, and put up more than 10 points in 67 of those contests. She has played in four games this season.
- Tylee Irwin, Myah Selland and Paiton Burckhard have all scored more than 1,000 career points for South Dakota State. SDSU is one of just a handful of programs nationally with three or more active 1,000-point scorers.
- State was picked to finish second in the 2021-22 Summit League Preseason Poll, splitting the first-place votes with South Dakota (20-18). Paiton Burckhard, Tylee Irwin and Myah Selland were named to the Preseason All-Summit League team.
- Myah Selland was tabbed as the Summit League Preseason Player of the Year and was named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year, Cheryl Miller Small Forward Award Naismith and Wooden Award watch lists.
