South Dakota State wrestlers combined to go 9-1 in the 141- and 149-pound weight classes during competition Saturday at the Last Chance Challenge at Frost Arena. The unscored meet featured the Jackrabbits and North Dakota State wrestling a series of extra matches in what was the teams' final competition before next month's Big 12 Conference Wrestling Championship.

Leading the way for the Jackrabbits at 141 pounds was 16th-ranked Clay Carlson, who posted a 3-0 record on the afternoon. He won two matches by fall and added a third win, in a rematch against Zach Watts, by technical fall.

Backup Caleb Gross added a win by fall to make it a perfect 4-0 mark for SDSU in the 141-pound division.

Four Jackrabbit wrestlers combined for a 5-1 record in the 149-pound weight class as Daniel Kimball won a pair of decisions, while Hunter Marko recorded a pin and Rylee Molitor added a win by decision. Freshman Lucus Anglin went 1-1, picking up his first collegiate win in the process.

At 125 pounds, senior Danny Vega ran his winning streak to 12 matches with two convincing victories over the Bison's Ryan Henningson, while 15th-ranked Zach Price won twice at 133 pounds. Cade DeVos, the Jackrabbits' starter at 157 pounds, won both of his matches by technical fall, while freshman Jack Thomsen posted a 2-1 record.

Overall, SDSU held a 22-18 advantage in the 40 head-to-head matches against the Bison.

UP NEXT
The Big 12 Conference Wrestling Championship will be contested March 6-7 with two sessions each day at BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The first three sessions will be streamed online through ESPN+ (Big 12 Now), with the finals session televised on ESPN2.
