The South Dakota State men's and women's golf teams will both play in the Stampede at The Creek April 12-13 in Omaha, Nebraska.Â
The tournament will take place at The Club at Indian Creek, a par-72 course for both the men and the women. The course distances include 7,234 on the first two rounds for the men and 7,196 for the final round. The women will play all three rounds on the 6,050-yard course.Â
The first 36 holes will take place on Monday. The event wraps up with the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Tee times are 9 a.m. on Monday and 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
On the men's side, the Jacks will go up against nine other teams as the women are one of eight teams participating.Â
The tournament will be played in a play six, count four format. The women's lineup will consist of Teresa Toscano, Mia Seeman, Hester Sicking, Cassidy Laidlaw, Lani Potter and Alex Kandolin. The men's lineup will include Liam Georgiadis, Jack Tanner, Mathew Schaefer, James Temple, Will Frazier and Noah Boraas, while Sam Batta will compete as an individual.Â
This will be the sixth tournament played by the Jackrabbit women. SDSU has won two events this season and hasn't finished outside of the top six spots in the team standings. Most recently, the Jacks took second out of 20 teams at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic April 5-6. Stampede at The Creek marks SDSU's final regular season tournament before the Summit League Championship April 24-26 in Newton, Kansas.Â
Teresa Toscano, who was recently named Summit League Female Golfer of the Week for the fifth time this season on, is the only Jackrabbit golfer who sits below par on the season as she leads the team with a 71.29 stroke average in 14 rounds of play. Toscano won three consecutive events before finishing tied for seventh at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic. Mia Seeman (76.07) and Hester Sicking (76.64) rank second and third, respectively, on the team.Â
For the Jackrabbit men, their best finish came in the Jackrabbit Invitational March 5-6, where they took fifth out of nine teams. State finished in ninth place at the Tiger Invitational April 5-6. The Jacks will conclude the regular season with the Hawkeye Invitational April 17-18 in Iowa City, Iowa.Â
In 12 rounds, Liam Georgiadis is first on the team with a 73.67 stroke average. Georgiadis recorded his best finish of the season last week at the Tiger Invitational, hitting 213 (-3). Jack Tanner, who also finished with a season-best score of 217 (+1) at the Tiger Invitational, has a season stroke average of 74.08 while Matthew Schaefer follows with a 74.42.Â
