JACKS SET FOR USD, OLE MISS WEEKEND MEETS

The South Dakota State track and field team will once again split this weekend for the USD Challenge in Vermillion and the Joe Walker Invite in Oxford, Miss. Nine mid-distance and distance runners will take to Ole Miss, while the rest of the team will make the short trip south to Vermillion.

In near perfect conditions, the South Dakota State track and field team took to the University of South Dakota for the USD Early Bird.Â
Trent Francom flew to the nation's sixth-best pole vault mark. SDSU's school record holder in the event cleared a career-high 18-04.75 to tie USD's Ethan Bray.
Three SDSU hammer throwers found their names moving around SDSU's all-time lists. Samuel Coil recorded a hammer throw of 201-3.50 for the second-best mark in SDSU history, Noah Huber threw for 184-09.00 and the eighth-best mark and Calob Jones followed with a 180-04.25 and is now ninth.
Alexis Schmidt recorded the seventh-best shot put mark in school history after taking fourth with a 47-00.75, Micayla Ter Wee threw a hammer mark of 176-10.50 for sixth place and took over as the ninth-best mark in program history and Faith Leiseth threw a PR of 155-00.00 in the discus to take first place and is now ninth all-time at State.
Reid Pierzinski clocked a 52.69 for first in the men's 400m hurdles and his time marks the fastest in the Summit League this season.Â
