South Dakota State travels up Interstate 29 for its final regular season matches of the 2022 season. The Jackrabbits first face North Dakota at 3 p.m. on Friday in Grand Forks at Bronson Field. SDSU then closes the road trip with a stop in Fargo to take on North Dakota State at 1 p.m. Sunday at Dacotah Field.
Â
The Jackrabbits extended their win streak to five games while closing out their home regular season schedule last weekend. SDSU defeated Oral Roberts 1-0 on Friday and topped Kansas City 2-1 on Sunday.Â
Â
SDSU finished its slate at Fishback Soccer Park with a 6-0-4 record this season. The Jacks have now went 38 straight matches without a home loss and 42 consecutive regular season games without a defeat in Brookings.
Â
Laney Murdzek was named the TicketSmarter Summit League Peak Performer of the Week Monday for her efforts last weekend. She scored eventual game-winning goals in both matches. Murdzek joined five other Jacks to claim weekly conference honors this year.
Â
The other Jackrabbit to score a goal last weekend was
Maya Hansen. The fourth-year Jackrabbit scored SDSU's opening goal in the win versus Kansas City which put her on the cusp of several program records. Her 92 career points have her just two points behind Jennifer (Briggs) Kessler's record of 94 set from 2000-02. Her 37 goals sit behind Kessler's 39 and Janine Fagan's 38 she scored from 2001-02.Â
Â
The Jacks have already clinched a spot in the 2022 Summit League Tournament, but will play for a chance to host an opening match this weekend. SDSU's 5-0-2 record (17 points) trails only Denver's 6-0-1 mark (19 points). The Jackrabbits can seal host duties for the conference tournament and claim a top-two seed with at least a tie over the next two matches.Â
Â
SDSU will face two teams battling to participate in The Summit League Tournament. NDSU currently stands at 3-4-0 (9 points) while UND is 2-3-2 (8 points). The Jacks are 12-3-1 all-time versus the Fighting Hawks, but 2-2-1 in Grand Forks. SDSU holds a 15-11-3 record against NDSU, but is 4-7 against the Bison in Fargo.
Â
Friday's match at North Dakota will be broadcast on Midco Sports Plus while Sunday's contest at North Dakota State will be streamed on GoBison.com. Live stats for both matchups are available on GoJacks.com.Â
