The Jacks most recently fell 78-69 to No. 21 Creighton Monday night at Frost in both teams' season openers. Lehigh opened its season with a 60-43 win over Stonehill Monday night at home in Bethlehem, Pa.

- Brooklyn Meyer scored 12 points in her collegiate debut, the most points for an SDSU freshman in a season opener since Myah Selland scored 12 in her first game as a Jackrabbit in 2017.

- Kallie Theisen and Paiton Burckhard had six rebounds each in Monday's game. Burckhard also gave out four assists while Theisen had the Jacks' lone block.
South Dakota State returns four starters and six of its top seven scorers from a season ago. That group is highlighted by the the Summit's Preseason Player of the Year Myah Selland.
- The Jacks are ranked No. 23 in the AP preseason poll and No. 24 in the WBCA/USA Today preseason poll. This is SDSU's first ever appearance in either preseason poll and first national ranking since being No. 25 in the final AP poll of 2020-21.
- The Jackrabbits added five newcomers to the roster, including Rapid City native Dru Gylten. Gylten led the Pac-12 in assists as a senior at Utah last season and is using her final season of eligibility closer to home at SDSU.
