South Dakota State takes on Kansas State for the eighth time in the series' history Saturday afternoon. The contest will be played at Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium.
K-State has a 7-0 lead over SDSU in the all-time series. The teams last met at Frost Arena a season ago with K-State winning 79-73. The Jacks overcame an early 15-point deficit to lead by as many as eight points but ultimately fell to the Wildcats.
The Jackrabbits are 5-4 this year and most recently beat Northern Iowa Saturday 80-69 at home. The Jacks won their last neutral-site game 65-55 over No. 4/10 Louisville. K-State is 9-1 overall. The Wildcats most recently beat fellow Summit League team Kansas City 72-45 Wednesday night. K-State's last neutral-site game was a 69-53 loss to Arkansas at Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands.
KEY STORYLINES
- South Dakota State takes on its third ranked opponent of the season Saturday in No. 24/25 Kansas State. The Jackrabbits are 1-1 against ranked opponents this year (No. 21/21 Creighton - L, 69-78; No. 4/10 Louisville - W, 65-55).
- K-State is the Jacks' sixth Power Five opponent of the year. SDSU is 3-2 in those games.
- The Jackrabbits had four players in double figures and one on the cusp against Northern Iowa in the team's last outing (Selland - 19, Timmer - 14, Burckhard - 13, Gylten - 11, B. Meyer - 9).
- SDSU registered a season-high 20 assists on 28 made baskets against Northern Iowa. Dru Gylten had seven helpers, followed by Selland and Nelson with six apiece.
- Myah Selland leads the Jacks in scoring (15.2 PPG), assists (3.6 APG) and steals (1.6 SPG).
- Seniors Myah Selland and Paiton Burckhard are quickly climbing SDSU's career scoring chart. Selland ranks sixth with 1,739 career points and Burckhard ranks 11th with 1,498 career points. - The Jacks' senior class brings a wealth of experience and talent into its final season. Paiton Burckhard leads the nation in career games played (139), Dru Gylten ranks second nationally in career assists (582) and Myah Selland ranks 13th in career field goals (648) and 17th in career points (1,739).
- Haleigh Timmer also contributes double figures for the Jacks, 10.4 points per game, while Paiton Burckhard chips in 9.4 points per game.
