The South Dakota State women will host Kansas City Saturday afternoon in the final game of the regular season. The Jackrabbits are 20-8 on the season and 16-1 in the Summit League with a chance to secure at least a share of the regular season title Saturday.
Kansas City is 22-6 overall with a 12-5 Summit League record. The Roos' only Summit losses this season have come to South Dakota State, South Dakota (2x), North Dakota and Oral Roberts. Before losing to the Coyotes Thursday night, KC had won nine consecutive games. The Roos are third in the conference standings. Naomie Alnatas scores 18.7 points and gives out 5.3 assists per contest to lead the KC squad. Her assists average leads the Summit League while her scoring output ranks second. Brooklyn McDavid averages 15.8 points per contest for the Roos, followed by 9.6 points by Paige Bradford. Bradford grabs 8.6 rebounds per game, ranking third in the Summit League.
KEY STORYLINES
- South Dakota State won its 12th straight game Thursday night, an 84-48 victory over Oral Roberts at Frost Arena. The Jackrabbits are 20-8 on the season and 16-1 in the Summit League with one games remaining.
- A win Saturday will clinch at least a share of the Summit League regular season title for the Jacks for the eighth time in program history and second straight season.
- The Jackrabbits will honor seniors Lauren Rongisch, Haley Greer, Tylee Irwin and Addison Hirschman pregame Saturday. SDSU is 117-36 in the last five seasons (since the start of Irwin's career).
- The Jackrabbits are receiving votes in the USA Today / WBCA Top-25 Poll this week and are up to 7th in the College Insider Mid-Major Top-25.
- Myah Selland has averaged 18.5 points per game in the back half of the Summit season - the last eight games. She scores 13.7 PPG overall and 14.5 in Summit games to lead the SDSU offense.
- Tori Nelson has been as consistent as they come for the Jacks this season, especially as of late. She is 62 percent from the field in Summit League games, which leads the conference, and 65 percent in the last six games. She has scored 9+ points in all but three conference contests.
- Four Jacks are scoring in double figures: Myah Selland (14.5), Paige Meyer (10.8), Tori Nelson (10.4) and Paiton Burckhard (10.2).
- SDSU ranks second in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage this season (39.1 percent) and third in overall field goal shooting (48.2 percent). Both clips lead the Summit League.
- Paige Meyer is the only freshman in the country averaging 10.5+ PPG and 4+ APG while shooting better than 50 percent from the field.
- Tori Nelson (61.6 percent) and Paige Meyer (61.3 percent) hold the top two spots on the Summit's field goal percentage chart in conference games. They are the only two shooting 60 percent or higher.
- Myah Selland has scored in every appearance of her career, 108 games, and put up more than 10 points in 79 of those contests. She ranks 12th on the Jacks' all-time scoring chart with 1,448 career points.
