South Dakota State hosts South Dakota in a battle of the top teams in the Summit League Saturday afternoon at Frost Arena. Saturday's game is the teams' second meeting of the season. USD won the first matchup back on January 8 in Vermillion.
The Jacks are 14-8 on the season and 10-1 in the Summit League. SDSU enters Saturday on a six-game win streak with its most recent victories coming on the road over North Dakota and North Dakota State.
Five Jackrabbits are averaging more than nine points per contest, paced by
Myah Selland's 12.0 PPG.
Paiton Burckhard and
Paige Meyer add 10.5 points apiece,
Tori Nelson chips in 9.5 and
Tylee Irwin rounds out the starting lineup with 9.3 points on average. All five are ranked in the top-25 of the Summit League's conference games scoring chart.
Burckhard and
Kallie Theisen grab 5.0 rebounds per game each to lead the Jackrabbits on the glass. Meyer gives out 4.1 assists and tallies 1.2 steals per game, both team highs.
South Dakota is 18-4 overall with an 11-0 Summit mark, The Coyotes have won 16 consecutive games heading into the weekend.
USD is paced by a trio of redshirt seniors in Chloe Lamb, Hannah Sjerven and Liv Korngable. Lamb's 15.7 PPG is a team high, followed by 13.5 points from Sjerven and 13.2 points from Korngable. Sjerven averages 6.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game while Korngable dishes 3.6 assists and Lamb forces 1.7 steals.
KEY STORYLINES
- South Dakota State enters Saturday at 14-8 overall and 10-1 in the Summit League. The Jacks are on a six-game win streak with their most recent loss coming at the hands of USD back on January 8 in Vermillion.
- Senior Tylee Irwin will play in her 144th career game Saturday afternoon, tying her for the most games played in program history (Macy Miller, 2014-19).
- The Jackrabbits currently rank third in the nation in field goal shooting (47.4%) and sixth in 3-point shooting (38.1%).
- Myah Selland scores 12.0 PPG overall to lead a very balanced SDSU offense. Over the last six games (since the USD loss), Selland has put up 14.8 PPG and averaged 4.9 rebounds. She scored a season-high 23 points at NDSU last week
- Paige Meyer and Paiton Burckhard add 10.4 PPG overall each, followed by Tori Nelson (9.5) and Tylee Irwin (9.3).
- All five Jackrabbit starters are averaging 9.5+ points in conference games - Burckhard (11.7), Selland (11.6), Meyer (11.1), Nelson (10.4), Irwin 9.6).

The Jacks are the only team to have all five starters rank in the top-25 of the Summit scoring chart for conference games.

- Paige Meyer is the only freshman in the country averaging 10.5 PPG and 4.1 APG while shooting better than 41% from the field. She is 50% in FG shooting overall (60% in Summit games), 52% from beyond the arc and also contributes 3.6 rebounds, on average.
- Tori Nelson's .561 overall field goal percentage and .618 field goal percentage in conference games ranks first in the Summit League. She has put up 9+ points in 13 of the last 16 contests and has knocked down at least one trey in all but four games this season.
- Myah Selland has scored in every appearance of her career, 102 games, and put up more than 10 points in 74 of those contests. She is averaging 12.0 PPG.
- Tylee Irwin, Myah Selland and Paiton Burckhard have all scored more than 1,000 career points and tallied more than 500 career rebounds for South Dakota State. SDSU is one of just a handful of programs nationally with three or more active players to record 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.
