SIOUX FALLS -
Baylor Scheierman earned his third TicketSmarter Summit League Men's Basketball Player of the Week award of the season, Summit League officials announced Monday.
Scheierman shared the honor, the fourth of his career, with Kansas City's Marvin Nesbitt, Jr.
The sophomore guard from Aurora, Neb., received co-Player of the Week honors after leading the Jackrabbits to a pair of road victories over Interstate 29 rivals.
Monday night, Scheierman scored a game-high 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting in a 70-64 win at North Dakota. He also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out five assists.
He followed that up with his tenth double-double of the season, a 15-point, 10-rebound showing as the Jacks defeated South Dakota 89-79 on Saturday in Vermillion.
Scheierman averaged 19.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists for the week. He made 13-of-15 shots inside the arc and went 10-for-13 at the free-throw line while adding in a blocked shot in each game.
The award marks the second of the season and the third of the career for Scheierman, who ranks seventh nationally in defensive rebounds per game (8.1).
South Dakota State is 21-4 overall and owns the nation's third-longest winning streak at 12. The Jacks are at Denver Thursday night to continue Summit League play. Tip off is slated for 8 p.m. inside Hamiltion Gymnasium.
