South Dakota State men's and women's track and field teams take off for three meets this weekend, with two competitions in California and one in Vermillion.

The Mike Fanelli Track Classic, hosted by San Francisco State, kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, and at the same both Friday and Saturday. The Stanford Invitational is set to be held on Friday and Saturday in Palo Alto, Californian, while the USD Early Bird in Vermillion starts at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with field events and noon with track events.

BAUER HONORED BY SUMMIT LEAGUE: South Dakota State' Riley Bauer was named the TicketSmarter Summit League Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, league officials announced March 29th.

Bauer was the top collegiate finisher at the Emporia State Relays in the 800-meter run. He finished third overall after he clocked a personal-best time of 1:49.92, which ranks third on SDSU's all-time list. Bauer's time also ranks 10^th in the nation so far this season.

SDSU MEN PICKED FIRST, WOMEN THIRD IN PRESEASON POLL: After winning the Summit League indoor title a month ago, the South Dakota State men's track and field team has been tabbed as the favorite during the outdoor season by the slimmest of margins in a vote among the league's coaches.

Earned a trip to the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships after placing second in the West Prelims with a mark of 17-10.50 (5.45 meters)
Finished third at the 2021 Summit League Outdoor Championships with a vault of 18-00.50 (5.50 m)
Set a personal-best and school-record mark in the pole vault at the USD Early Bird meet with a mark of 18-04.75 (5.61 m)
