South Dakota State hosts Seton Hall Saturday afternoon in the championship game of the WNIT at Frost Arena. The Jackrabbits are playing in their fifth WNIT and are 12-4 all-time in the tournament. The team is playing in the championship game of the tournament for the first time in program history.
The Jackrabbits are 28-9 on the year after outlasting UCLA 62-59 Thursday night at Frost. This is the 11th straight 20+ win season for Coach Aaron Johnston and South Dakota State. Johnston has won 25+ games with the Jacks 11 times in his career and eight times in the Division I era. This is the fourth time in the Division I era the Jackrabbits have won 27+ games.
Myah Selland scores 14.2 points per game to lead the SDSU offense. She has scored in double figures in 12 of the last 14 contests. Selland is joined in double figures by Paiton Burckhard (11.3 PPG), Tori Nelson (10.3) and Paige Meyer (10.4). Selland also contributes 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists on average.
Haleigh Timmer has started all five WNIT games for the Jackrabbits and is averaging 17.2 points in that time. Burckhard paces the Jackrabbits on the glass tallying 5.5 rebounds per contest, and adds 2.3 assists per game. Kallie Theisen blocks 1.1 shots a night. Prior to a season-ending injury Meyer was the Jackrabbits' assists (4.1 APG) and steals (1.2 SPG) leader. She ranked second in the Summit League in field goal percentage and assists and and third in assists/turnover ratio.
