MARICOPA, Ariz. - The South Dakota State golf team finished ninth at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, which wrapped up Tuesday at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
The Jackrabbits played the final 18 holes Tuesday, carding at 292 (+4), their best team score of the event. The round pushed SDSU up two spots on the leaderboard to ninth after sitting in 11th after two rounds Monday.
Shakira-Ann Kuys and
Piper Stubbs both finished in 20th place with matching 222 (+6) scorecards. Kuys jumped 15 spots in the standings after a 72 (E) round Tuesday, her best round of the event. She had four birdies and 10 par holes on the last day.
Lani Potter and
Mia Seeman tied for 50th place. The duo each finished with a 229 (+13) total score but were even-par (72) on Tuesday, which moved them up 16 spots in the standings.
Hester Sicking rounded out the Jackrabbits in 56th place.
Stubbs, Seeman and Kuys had one eagle each at the tournament.
Santa Clara won the tournament with Claire Choi earning individual medalist honors.
UP NEXT
SDSU will play in the Stampede at the Creek hosted by Omaha April 11-12. It is the final tournament before the Summit League Championship.
