South Dakota State travels to Iowa City for its final nonconference matchups at the Hawkeye Invitational this weekend. The Jacks are slated to take on Iowa and Northern Iowa Friday and wraps up the tournament with North Florida Saturday morning.
KEY STORYLINES
- South Dakota State is coming off a 2-1 weekend at the Gamecock Classic hosted by Jacksonville State.
- Crystal Burk recently recorded the 1,000th dig of her career. She also has more than 1,000 career digs. She is one of only six Jackrabbits all-time to achieve both milestones.
- Crystal Burk already ranks fifth in program history in career attacks (3,778) and could reach fourth place this weekend (3,840). Crystal is closing in on 10th place in career kills. With 1,222 kills as a Jackrabbit, she is eight kills from 10th place (1,230).
- Jadyn Makovicka, who has seen time at libero this season, is closing in on the 1,000th dig of her career. Between her time at Rockhurst and South Dakota State, she sits at 973 career digs.
- Crystal Burk ranks among the nation's best in total kills (153, 14th), total attacks (422, 15th) and total points (167, 23rd).
- Raegen Reilly's 359 total assists ranks 24th in the nation and third in the Summit League.
- Crystal Burk averages 4.03 kills per set, which ranks third in the Summit League.
- Ella Thompson holds a .305 attack rate this year, ranking sixth in the Summit. Sydney Andrews' .279 clip ranks ninth.
- Sydney Andrews' 1.20 blocks per set ranks fifth in the conference.
- Five starters from 2021 return to the squad in 2022, including fifth-year seniors Crystal Burk and Sydney Andrews.
- Two returners earned all-Summit recognition a season ago. Crystal Burk was named to the All-Summit League First Team while Ella Thompson was a member of the league's All-Freshman Team.
