South Dakota State hits the road to take on North Dakota Thursday in the Jackrabbits' only match of the week. This is the first meeting between the teams this season. Both teams are 6-16 overall and the Jackrabbits are 4-6 in conference action while the Hawks are 3-7. With a win Thursday, Dan Georgalas would reach 50 career wins at South Dakota State.
KEY STORYLINES
- Freshman Sylvie Zgonc was named Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week Tuesday. She led the league with 58 total kills and 4.46 kills per set last week as the Jackrabbits went 2-1 overall.
- Katie Van Egdom averaged 3.85 kills per set in conference action, which leads the conference. Zgonc adds 3.67 kills per set, ranking third.
- South Dakota State sits sixth in the Summit League standings with six reagular-seasin contests remaining.
- Masa Scheierman put together one of her most complete matches of the year against Kansas City last week. She tallied eight kills, seven aces serves, four blocks and four digs. Her seven aces is a new program record for a five-set match.
- Led by 4.36 digs per set from libero Stella Winterfeld, SDSU leads the Summit League in team digs per set (16.59). Winterfeld ranks second in the league in that category.
- Of the Jackrabbits' 21 dropped sets in conference matches, 12 of those have been lost by three points or fewer.
- SDSU ranks fourth in the Summit League in kills per set (12.72) in conference contests.
- Raegen Reilly leads the team in overall service aces this year (19), followed by Stella Winterfeld with 18 and Elyse Winter and Sylvie Zgonc with 16 apiece.
- Sydni Schetnan leads the defense with 56 total blocks on the season. Elyse Winter is just behind with 54 blocks this year.
