BROOKINGS, S.D. — South Dakota State is slated to host the semifinals of the 2023 Summit League Women's Soccer Championship at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Fishback Soccer Park. The Jackrabbits await the winner of the quarterfinal match on Friday between No. 3 Oral Roberts and No. 6 Kansas City.

The Jackrabbits enter the conference tournament as the No. 2 seed. SDSU went 4-1-3 over the course of eight Summit League matches. The Jacks' 15 points accumulated trailed only Denver's 17 which hosts No. 4 Omaha and No. 5 South Dakota this weekend.

SDSU is 9-6-6 all-time in The Summit League tournament. The Jacks were defeated in the semifinals by Omaha last season, 1-0, in Brookings. The loss was SDSU's first as a No. 2 seed as the Jackrabbits now stand at a 5-1-2 record. Two seasons ago, SDSU won the conference championship winning two matches in Denver as the second seed.Â

The Jacks ended the 2023 regular season with three consecutive ties. SDSU finished with draws against both opponents in Brookings this weekend in Oral Roberts and Kansas City, then concluded the slate with a 1-1 tie versus Omaha on Oct. 24.Â

Pacing the Jackrabbits are several Summit League honorees.
Avery Murdzek was selected as The Summit League's Midfielder of the Year after leading SDSU in goals (6) and points (15). She, along with
Kaycee Manding, were First Team All-Summit League picks.
Laney Murdzek was a Second Team All-Summit League choice. Forwards
Katelyn Beulke and
Jadenn Carrillo were selected to the All-Newcomer Team.Â

Other standouts for the Jackrabbits include multiple upperclassmen. Starting every game they played in this season include

SDSU waits to see who it faces between the Golden Eagles and Roos. Oral Roberts holds a 9-3-2 record over Kansas City all-time, including a 5-2 win on Oct. 1. SDSU is 15-1-3 against ORU and 7-2-1 versus Kansas City.

Due to ongoing construction on 20th Street in Brookings, the street along with the north entrance to Fishback Soccer Park is closed. The intersection at Medary Avenue on 20th Street however has been opened. Fans can access games at Fishback Soccer Park through the south entrance of Fishback Soccer Park by either traveling southbound on Medary, as well as northbound from 32nd Street South.Â
