South Dakota State and No. 21 Creighton meet for the 16th time in the history of the series Thursday evening in Omaha.
Creighton leads the all-time series, 10-5. The last meeting was a battle between ranked teams at Frost Arena to open the 2022-23 season. The Bluejays won that matchup 78-69. The Jackrabbits and Bluejays have met every season since 2012-13. Creighton holds a 7-4 edge in that stretch and has won the last two meetings. SDSU's last win was a 66-47 victory at Frost in the 2020-21 season.
SDSU is 6-4 on the season, 2-3 on the road and 0-3 against ranked opponents so far this year. Most recently, the Jacks suffered an 83-58 loss at No. 21 Gonzaga Sunday afternoon in Spokane.
Creighton is 8-2 this year and 2-1 at home. The Bluejays only losses have been to Green Bay, who is receiving votes in the polls, and No. 19 Marquette. Creighton's most recent result was an 89-78 win at Drake Sunday afternoon.
KEY STORYLINES
- South Dakota State is 6-4 on the season and plays its second of four straight games on the road at Creighton Thursday evening.
- The Jacks take on their fourth ranked opponent of the season in No. 21 Creighton. SDSU is 0-3 against ranked opponents this season and 17-39 all time (page 7).
- Brooklyn Meyer leads the team scoring (15.7 PPG), rebounding (9.0 RPG), blocks (2.1 BPG) and field goal percentage (.525). Her rebound and block marks also lead the Summit League.
- Paige Meyer contributes 15.3 points, 3.6 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. She has tallied at least 10 points and three rebounds in all but one game this season.
- Seven Jackrabbits have put up at least 10 points in a single game this season. Five different Jackrabbits have been the team's leading scorer through 10 games.
- Prior to the Gonzaga contest, Madison Mathiowetz had tallied back-to-back career scoring games as she put up 16 at Northern Iowa and then 21 against Dordt. She is averaging 9.7 points at a .419 clip this season but is 55 percent from the floor in her last five games.
- Tori Nelson continues to move up the ranks in the Jackrabbit record book. She recently passed the 1,200 career points mark and ranks 33rd in program history in career scoring. Nelson ranks fourth in career blocks (126) and seventh in career games played (134).
- Tori Nelson's 134 career games played ranks seventh in program history and 11th among all active NCAA players.
- Mesa Byom scores 6.6 points per game off the bench. She led the Jackrabbits with 12 points at Gonzaga Sunday.
