South Dakota State at Northern Iowa meet for the 17th time in the history of the series Saturday afternoon in Cedar Falls. Including 2023-24, these teams have met in 10 of the last 12 seasons.
The Jackrabbits were victorious in the most recent meeting - an 80-69 result at Frost Arena last season.
SDSU is 4-3 on the season following a five-point loss to No. 21/22 Washington State Tuesday night. The Jacks are coming off a three-game homestand and have not played on the road since November 20.
Northern Iowa is 1-6 on the year and have lost six straight contests. Most recently, UNI dropped a 115-62 contest at Creighton.
KEY STORYLINES
- South Dakota State goes back on the road Saturday for the first time in nearly three weeks. The Jacks went 2-1 in their three-game homestand and are coming off a five-point loss to No. 21/22 Washington State at home Tuesday.
- SDSU is led by 17.9 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per contest from Brooklyn Meyer, all of which lead the Summit League. She is second in the Summit in field goal percentage (.537).
- Brooklyn Meyer is one of four players in the country averaging at least 17 points, nine rebounds and two blocks per contest.
- Paige Meyer adds 16.3 points and 3.5 assists per game through four games played this year. She is shooting .550 on the year.
- Paige Meyer led the way with a season-high 23 points against Washington State, two shy of her career high. Meyer had tallied at least 10 points and three assists in all four appearances this year.
- Tori Nelson surpassed 1,200 career points against the Cougars and ranks 33rd all-time in SDSU history. Nelson has also recorded at least one block in every game this season and ranks fourth all-time in that category (121).
- Tori Nelson's 131 career games played ranks 12th among all active NCAA players.
- As a team, SDSU ranks sixth in the country in 3-point field goal percentage defense, limiting opponents to just 21.4 percent from deep.
- The Jackrabbit defense holds its opponents to 56.1 points per game, 34.4 percent field goal shooting and 21.4 percent 3-point shooting, all of which lead the Summit League.
- SDSU plays five of its next six games on the road. After Tuesday's home game against Dordt, the Jackrabbits won't be back at Frost Arena until January 6.
