South Dakota State takes on South Dakota Saturday afternoon in the 98th all-time meeting between these teams.
The Jacks upped their win streak to 13 games last weekend with road wins over North Dakota and North Dakota State. At 13-0, SDSU is unbeaten in Summit action. The team is 20-5 overall and 6-2 on the road this season.
South Dakota is 11-13 on the year and 7-6 in conference action. The Coyotes have lost three consecutive contests and are 6-6 at home in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center this year. USD is 5-0 against SDSU at the SCSC.
KEY STORYLINES
- South Dakota State takes on South Dakota Saturday afternoon in Vermillion in the teams' second meeting of the year. With a win, the Jacks would secure sole possession of the Summit League regular season title.
- With NDSU and ORU both losing Thursday night, SDSU has already clinched at least a share of the regular season crown.
- This is the 98th all-time meeting between the Jackrabbits and the Coyotes and 32nd meeting since USD joined the Summit League in the 2011-12 season. SDSU is 62-35 all-time and 17-14 when both teams are members of the Summit League.
- Within Summit League pay, SDSU holds a 24.5 PPG scoring margin over its opponents. The next closest margin is 2.2 PPG (Oral Roberts).
- SDSU also leads the conference in a number of other statistical categories, including scoring offense (85.5), scoring defense (61.0), field goal percentage (.481) and rebounding margin (11.2).
- Myah Selland became the second member of SDSU's 2,000 point club last weekend. She is the seventh Summit League player to achieve the milestone.
- Myah Selland averages more than 16 points and six rebounds per game to lead the Jackrabbits. Haleigh Timmer and Paiton Burckhard also average double digits, scoring 11.2 and 11.0 points per game, respectively.
- SDSU's point guard duo of Paige Meyer and Dru Gylten are two of four total players in the country averaging at least 3.4 assists in 20 minutes or fewer. Paige Meyer is the only player in the country averaging at least nine points and three assists in less than 20 minutes per contest.
- Kallie Theisen comes off the bench to contribute six points and six rebounds per game. She is averaging 12 boards over the last three contests.
- Although SDSU is not receiving votes in the national polls, the Jacks are the No. 1 rated team in the latest Mid-Major Top 25.
