The Jackrabbits are 22-5 on the year and 15-0 in Summit League action. SDSU's win streak is now 15 games following an 82-34 win over Denver Thursday night. State is 12-1 at home this year.
Omaha is 12-15 overall with a 7-9 Summit League mark. Most recently, the Mavs fell to South Dakota 61-41 in Vermillion Thursday. UNO is 5-9 on the road.
KEY STORYLINES
- South Dakota State plays its final home game of the 2022-23 season Saturday afternoon when it hosts Omaha at Frost. The Jacks will celebrate seniors Dru Gylten, Paiton Burckhard, Regan Nesheim and Myah Selland prior to the game.
- The Jacks are still unbeaten in conference action at 15-0. The squad put on a defensive clinic Thursday night, holding Denver to just 22 percent shooting in an 82-34 win over the Pios.
- SDSU has won 15 consecutive games, which is the third-longest active streak in the country. SDSU has won 25 consecutive league games at home, a streak that began in the 2020-21 season.
- The Jacks lead the Summit League in a number of categories, including scoring offense (85.0), scoring defense (60.1), scoring margin (24.9), field goal percentage (.483) and rebounding (42.1).
- SDSU ranks 10th in the NCAA in rebounding margin (10.0), 14th in free throws made per game (15.73) and 15th in defensive rebounds per game (29.9).
- Myah Selland averages more than 16 points and six rebounds in Summit games to lead the Jackrabbits. Paiton Burckhard and Haleigh score 12.6 and 12.4 points per conference game, respectively.
- Haleigh Timmer has scored at least 10 points in every game of January and February. She's averaging 14.3 points in 2023.
- SDSU's point guard duo of Paige Meyer and Dru Gylten are two of three total players in the country averaging at least 3.4 assists in 20 minutes or fewer. Paige Meyer is the only player in the country averaging at least nine points and three assists in less than 20 minutes per contest.
- Kallie Theisen comes off the bench to contribute six points and six rebounds per game. She is averaging 11 boards over the last five contests.
- SDSU recently took over the top spot on the mid-major poll. The Jacks are receiving votes in the AP poll and the WBCA coaches' poll for the first time since December.
