MINNEAPOLIS — South Dakota State's 800 freestyle relay team recorded a fourth-place finish to pace the Jackrabbit women's squad Wednesday on the opening day of the 2023 Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
SDSU opened Wednesday's evening session with a sixth-place showing in the 200 medley relay as the team of Kelsey Kocon, Morgan Nelson, Sara Juez and Emma Bachelder combined for a time of 1:44.04.
In addition, the Jackrabbits picked up points in 1-meter diving as senior Aleni Stoakes placed 11th with a score of 208.80 points.
Defending champion Denver won all three events contested Wednesday and leads the team race with 129 points. South Dakota is second with 107 points, followed by Lindenwood and Omaha tied for third with 85. SDSU stands sixth with 62 points.
UP NEXT
The first full day of action at the Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships is slated for Thursday. Preliminary action is slated to start at 10 a.m., with event finals set for 5:30 p.m.
