South Dakota State	Game Notes

South Dakota State had its schedule this weekend altered due to travel out of the Brookings area but is slated to still play four games at Central Arkansas' Michelle Short Memorial Classic. The Jackrabbits will play a pair of matchups each on Saturday and Sunday. SDSU will face Mississippi Valley State and Missouri State in consecutive games beginning at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, while the Jacks will take on the Devilettes and Central Arkansas back-to-back at 11 a.m. Sunday.

The Jackrabbits head into the trip with an 8-4 overall record. SDSU won three of its five games at the I-35 Tournament held last weekend in San Marcos, Texas.

SDSU had two individuals recognized for their play last week as Tori Kniesche and Emma Osmundson earned TicketSmarter Summit League Peak Pitcher and Performer of the Week honors. Kniesche claimed repeat accolades after pitching 21 innings last week and giving up five earned runs. Her five wins in the circle this year rank fifth in the nation and her 0.95 ERA is 74th. Osmundson went 10-for-21 last week which included a walk-off RBI double. She leads SDSU through 12 games with a .382 batting average and seven RBIs.

Several others have been high performers early in the season. Mia Jarecki is batting .375 as SDSU's leadoff hitter. Her 15 hits ranks 27th in DI softball. Lindsey Culver is up to a .267 batting average for SDSU, while Tori Tollefson is second on the squad with five RBIs. In the circle, Shannon Lasey has three wins for the Jacks while Alexa Williams has made four appearances and has a 2.25 ERA.

Mississippi Valley State enters the Michelle Short Memorial Classic with an 0-8 overall record. Missouri State, an NCAA Tournament team a season ago, sits a 3-6 so far in 2023. Central Arkansas is 7-2 this season with its only losses a 1-0 decision and 3-1 defeat to now No. 15 LSU.
