STILLWATER, Okla. – The No. 3 softball team in the nation Oklahoma State defeated South Dakota State, 6-0, to close out action in the OSU/Tulsa Invitational at Cowgirl Stadium on Sunday.Â

The Cowgirl pitching rotation put together another solid performance in consecutive days against the Jacks. Starter Lexi Kilfoyl threw four innings and allowed just one hit. Reliever Kelly Maxwell came in for the final three innings and gave up up just a hit and struck out seven hitters.Â

SDSU's rotation pitched tough against a lineup that leads the country in batting average and is second in Division I softball in slugging percentage and on-base percentage. Starter
Tori Kniesche escaped two bases loaded jams with minimal damage given up. She pitched four innings and gave up two runs on five hits. She walked seven Cowgirl batters and struck out two.
Shannon Lasey threw the final two innings and gave up two earned runs and struck out two hitters while walking just one.Â

South Dakota State kept the game close trailing 2-0 through four innings before the Cowgirls scored two runs apiece in the fifth and sixth innings, respectively.Â
