SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The South Dakota State women's basketball team punched its ticket the NCAA Tournament Tuesday afternoon with a 93-51 win over Omaha in the Summit League championship game.
The Jackrabbits have won their 10th Summit League postseason tournament will head back to March Madness for the 11th time in their 15 seasons of Division I postseason eligibility.
Haleigh Timmer, the Summit League Championship MVP, poured in 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting to lead South Dakota State in the title game. The sophomore tallied 53 points over three tournament contests.
Paige Meyer matched her season best with 16 points to solidify her spot on the all-tournament team. She went 5-for-6 from the field and knocked down all five free throw attempts while sharing the team lead in rebounds (five) and assists (four).
Myah Selland rounded out SDSU's all-tournament selections with 11 points, five boards, two assists and two steals in Tuesday's game.
Paiton Burckhard posted 14 points, three assists and three steals.
SDSU controlled things from the jump and wasted no time opening up a double-digit lead over the Mavericks. By the end of the first quarter it was a 13-point game - 21-8 - and a 12-point stretch during the second pushed SDSU's lead to 30 even before halftime.
The Jacks' defense also went to work early on. Through the opening five minutes SDSU had tallied three blocks and forced three Omaha turnovers. By the end of the game State had a 7-0 edge in blocks and 10-5 advantage in steals.
State's 42-point win is the largest margin of victory in a Summit League title game and the team's 93 points is the most scored in the championship meeting. The Jackrabbits shot 62 percent for the game, the fourth-best mark in league tournament history. SDSU connected on 13-of-19 3-point field goals, led by a 4-of-4 mark from Timmer.
The Jackrabbits scored 34 points in the paint and got 27 points from their bench, led by nine from
Madison Mathiowetz. Also off the bench,
Kallie Theisen grabbed five rebounds and notched three blocks.
Tori Nelson scored seven for the Jacks and had four blocks, all in the first half.
Dru Gylten dished four assists.Â
SDSU will enter the NCAA postseason with a 28-5 overall mark.Â

- SDSU moves to 35-5 all-time in the Summit League tournament. The Jacks' record in the title game is 11-2.
- The Jacks have posted at least 20 assists in 13 contests this season
- SDSU has won 21 consecutive contests, adding to their all-time program win-streak record. They own the second-longest active streak in the nation behind South Carolina (32) and tied with Gardner-Webb.
- The Jacks have won each of their last nine games by at least 20 points.
