WACO, Texas — A total of 15 South Dakota State equestrian student-athletes have been honored on the National Collegiate Equestrian Association's 2023 APHA All-Academic teams and the Academic Honor Roll. The awards recognize student-athletes for their success both in the arena and in the classroom during the 2022-23 academic year.

The award recipients and criteria are listed below:
 APHA NCEA ALL-ACADEMIC FIRST TEAM SDSU Honorees
Fox and Townsend were each honored for the third time on the first team, while Werkhoven was a repeat selection.

Recipients must have competed in a minimum of 70 percent of their school's meets, not including demo or exhibition rides, and earned a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.
 APHA NCEA ALL-ACADEMIC SECOND TEAM SDSU Honorees
Award winners must have competed in a minimum of 60 percent of their school's meets, not including demo or exhibition rides, and earned a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.
 APHA NCEA ACADEMIC HONORABLE MENTION TEAM SDSU Honoree
Recipients must have competed in a minimum of 50 percent of their school's meets, not including demo or exhibition rides, and earned a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.
 NCEA ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL SDSU Honorees
