LINCOLN, Neb. - The South Dakota State men's golf team battled windy conditions during the opening round of the Summit League Championships Sunday.
The Jackrabbits are in 10th place as a team with a 321 (+37) scorecard after the first 18 holes, but are within nine shots of seventh place and 15 shots of fourth. Kansas City leads the field with a 301 (+17).
Matthew Schaefer is in a tie for 20th place to lead SDSU. He is 7-over-par and seven shots off the top of the leaderboard.
Luke Honner is one shot back in a tie for 29th place, followed by
Ty Kretz at +10 in a tie for 38th place.
Jonah Dohrer rounds out the scoring contributors at +12 and is tied for 45th while
Tyler Seeling is 15-over in 50th place.
The wind in Lincoln is expected to continue Monday. The Jackrabbits will tee off on the first hole starting with Seeling at 8:30 a.m., followed by the rest of the team in 10-minute increments.
