JACKRABBIT SUCCESS CONTINUES IN DAY TWO

FARGO, ND – South Dakota State garnered four more medals while also qualifying several athletes to event finals in the second day of competition at the Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.
Faith Leiseth started the Jackrabbit hot streak by shattering the previous shot put school record with her mark of 50-02.50. Her throw was good enough for a second place finish and the silver medal.
Ryan Benson then took the bronze medal in the decathlon with a personal best 6486 points, which is now sixth in school history.
Cody Larson clocked a personal best 8:59.78 for third place in the men's 3000m steeplechase and the sixth fastest time on record. Carter Knaus also took fourth place in the event with a personal best 9:03.15, which is eight all-time at SDSU.
Madison Kizer captured the final medal on the day after soaring into third place of the high jump with an outdoor PR-tying clearance of 5-07.25. Layne Kirkendoll and Jordan Stoddard each tied for fourth place with a 5-05.25 and Taylor Jochum tied for eighth with a 5-03.25.
Earlier in the day, Lizzy Gillingham finished fifth in the women's hepathlon with a personal best 4599 points, which is now fifth in school history.
Savannah Risseeuw clocked a 14.02 for ninth in the 100-meter hurdles as Brielle Dixon took 10th with a 14.30.
Jaiden Boomsma (11.97) qualified for tomorrow's women's 100m dash finals after leaping her way into sixth place of the long jump with a mark of 19-05.25 as Stoddard finished 15th with an 18-05.25.
Cerington Jones (24.71) and Rich-Ann Archer (24.91) are moving on to the 200-meter dash finals.
Jones (55.07), Lauren Van Dyke (55.77) and Jenna Johnson (55.98, PR, fifth all-time at SDSU) will all compete at tomorrow's finals of the 400-meter dash.
Savannah Risseeuw will represent SDSU in the finals of the 400-meter hurdles after clocking a personal best 1:02.67, now the fourth fastest time in school history.
Tori Glazier (2:11.70, PR) and Claire Beckman (2:12.02, PR) are both moving on to the women's 800-meter run finals.
In the women's 3000-meter steeplechase, Malorie Schmoll runs an 11:33.25 for a ninth place overall finish.
In the men's long jump finals, Tre Manning finished fourth with a mark of 23-04.75 as Tristen Hanna took ninth with a 21-11.75.
Connor Powers cleared a personal best height of 6-09.00 in the high jump to take fourth place overall and now sits seventh on the SDSU all-time list.
Dominick Etherington took fifth place in the shot put with a throw of 56-09.50 as Wyatt Seagren threw a personal best 54-06.75 for seventh and Noah Jessup finished ninth with a 46-10.00.
Jared Wipf qualified for both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash finals.
Pierre Lear (14.21) and Benson (14.93, PR) each qualified for tomorrow's finals of the 110-meter hurdles.
Thailan Hallman (48.08) and Reggie Slaba (49.33) are each moving on to the 400-meter dash finals.
Reid Pierzinski (52.54) and Emmanual Phoulom-Smith (53.29) will each represent SDSU in the finals of the men's 400-meter hurdles.
Thomas Breuckman (1:50.94) took second overall in the men's 800-meter run to qualify for the event finals.
Currently in the men's team standings, SDSU sits in second with 72 points while NDSU is first with 107 points and USD is third with 49 points.
On the women's side, SDSU is fourth with 53.33 points as USD sits in first with 117.5 points and NDSU is second 78.83 points.
Tomorrow's action will resume at the Terrence Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex at 12 p.m. with field events and 1:20 p.m. with track events.
