LAWRENCE, Kan. — South Dakota State ended its preseason slate of matches on a positive note Friday as the Jackrabbits defeated Kansas, 2-1, at Rock Chalk Park.Â

Kansas recorded the first six shots of the game yet fell behind by a 1-0 score as a
Maya Hansen goal put SDSU in the lead. An early second half goal by
Reagan Anderson, assisted by
Katherine Jones, pushed the Jacks ahead 2-0.Â

The Jayhawks notched a goal midway through the second half to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Jackrabbits were strong defensively late and kept the home side off the board for roughly 20 minutes of action.Â

SDSU was outshot by Kansas 13-5, but freshman goalkeeper
Emma Knack made five saves and sophomore
Mia Wildeman recorded two to help the Jackrabbits in the win.Â

The Jackrabbits look ahead to their season opener in Brookings at Fishback Soccer Park on Thursday, Aug. 17, at 6 p.m. against Manitoba. They follow that with a 6 p.m. match on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 6 p.m. versus Augustana.Â
