South Dakota State continues its 2023 season by hitting the road for the first time. The Jackrabbits travel to Des Moines to take on Drake in a 7:30 p.m. match on Thursday. SDSU closes out its week on Sunday when the Jackrabbits host Iowa State at Fishback Soccer Park at 1 p.m.

The Jackrabbits opened their 2023 season last week by earning back-to-back victories against non-Division I competition. SDSU defeated Manitoba by a 4-0 score onÂ
Thursday, then beat Augustana by a 6-0 margin on Saturday.Â

Each win featured program highlights for the Jacks. In the win over Manitoba, senior
Maya Hansen became SDSU's all-time leading scorer by registering her 40th career goal. Following the match against Augustana, she now holds program records of 42 goals and 103 career points.

SDSU's win against the Vikings came in front a record crowd of 505 spectators at Fishback Soccer Park. That topped the program's previous record of 474 which was set in 2010. The Jacks combined for seven assists in the match, the sixth most ever in a game. The goal total and 19 points were the most by the Jackrabbits in a game since 2021.

SDSU matches up with Drake just under a year after the two sides met in Brookings during the 2022 season. The two teams tied, 1-1, on Sept. 4 at Fishback Soccer Park. The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the match on an own goal in the 50th minute. Just three minutes later,
Reagan Anderson tied the score with a header off a corner kick opportunity.Â

South Dakota State holds an 8-6-2 record all-time against Drake. The two foes squared off every season from 2005-2019, before taking a break until 2022. The longest win streak between the two is a four-game stretch by SDSU from 2013-16.

The Jacks return home following the trip to Des Moines to take on Iowa State in Brookings on Sunday. SDSU holds a 3-7-2 record against the Cyclones. The two met once every year from 2008-18 with this year's meeting the first since that span. The Jackrabbits' are 1-6-1 in the last eight matchups, with their last victory in 2014.
