BROOKINGS, S.D. — South Dakota State hosts its first home conference games at Fishback Soccer Park this week as the Jackrabbits gear up to take on North Dakota State and North Dakota. The Jacks face NDSU in Brookings at 6 p.m. on Thursday, followed by a 1 p.m. meeting Sunday versus UND.

SDSU opened Summit League play this past Sunday by earning a 1-0 'Interstate Series' victory over South Dakota. The Jackrabbits outshot the Coyotes 19-3 and benefitted from a 20th minute goal by
Katelyn Beulke. The win for SDSU was the program's first in Vermillion since 2014.Â

The Jacks had several noteworthy performances by individuals in the rivalry victory, however
Katherine Jones was highlighted for her efforts as the TicketSmarter Summit League Defensive Peak Performer of the Week. Jones played primarily at SDSU's right-back position, competed for 90 minutes and dealt the assist on the Beulke goal.Â

SDSU's defense has buoyed the Jacks of late. The Jackrabbits have given up more than one goal in just one contest this season. Jones,
Reagan Anderson,
Hayley Lindaman and
Kaycee Manding all played 90 minutes their last time out and have been the primary contributors to the SDSU back line.

North Dakota State is 4-3-4 overall and has two points in conference play following draws in its first two matches of league action. The Bison tied Kansas City 1-1 and Omaha 2-2 last week. Olivia Watson has a team-high four goals and nine points. Kelsey Kallio, the reigning Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week, has a team-best three assists. Goalkeeper Abby Wilkinson has a 1.27 goals against average and .781 save percentage.Â

SDSU has a 16-11-3 record all-time against NDSU and has won the last five meetings between the two sides.Â

North Dakota is 4-5-3 overall this season and 0-1-1 in Summit play. The Fighting Hawks fell 2-0 to Omaha last week, then had a scoreless tie against Kansas City. A trio of UND players have eight points apiece, while goalkeeper Madi Livingston has a 0.92 goals against average and .831 save percentage. SDSU has won six straight matchups over UND and is 13-3-1 all-time in the series.

Thursday's match is the annual Hometown Heroes event hosted by Jackrabbit soccer. Kids and members of the public will have an opportunity to meet local police officers, firefighters and other first responders and take a look at the vehicles they operate.Â

Due to ongoing construction on 20th Street in Brookings, the street along with the north entrance to Fishback Soccer Park is closed. The intersection at Medary Avenue on 20th Street however has been opened. Fans can access games at Fishback Soccer Park through the south entrance of Fishback Soccer Park by either traveling southbound on Medary, as well as northbound from 32nd Street South.Â
