South Dakota State hosts St. Thomas Thursday night in the Jacks' second Summit League game of the season and first at home.
The Jackrabbits are 5-0 all-time against the Tommies. All five meetings have come in the previous two seasons since St. Thomas joined the Summit League.
St. Thomas is 10-6 on the season with a 2-0 Summit League record. The Tommies have conference wins over North Dakota and Kansas City and won both its Big Sky-Summit Challenge matchups. UST's five-game win streak dates back to a December 16 victory over UW Stevens Point. The Tommies' last loss was to Wisconsin, 78-55, December 13.
South Dakota State is 9-5 on the year and 1-0 in Summit League action. The Jacks also went 2-0 in the Big Sky-Summit Challenge with wins over Northern Arizona and Montana State. Paige Meyer, the reigning Summit League Player of the Week, averaged 24.5 points at a .593 clip in last week's wins.
KEY STORYLINES
- SDSU returns to conference action Thursday to host St. Thomas at Frost Arena. The Jacks are 1-0 in the Summit League have won three straight games.
- The Jacks are 9-5 on the year with four of five losses coming to ranked teams.
- Three Jackrabbits averaged double figures on the season - Paige Meyer (15.5 PPG), Brooklyn Meyer (15.4 PPG) and Madison Mathiowetz (10.1 PPG).
- Paige Meyer is the reigning Summit League Player of the Week after averaging 24.5 points at a .593 clip in a pair of wins last week. She scored 37 in a 2OT win at Northern Arizona.
- Paige Meyer leads the team in scoring (15.5 PPG), assists (3.0 APG) and steals (1.5 SPG). She is second in field goal shooting (.479).
- Brooklyn Meyer tallies a team-high 9.1 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and .517 field goal percentage. She leads the Summit League in shot rejections and is second in rebounding and field goal shooting.
- The Jackrabbits average 5.1 blocks per game as a team, led by Brooklyn Meyer (2.1), Tori Nelson (1.6) and Mesa Byom (1.1). The trio holds the top three spots in the Summit individual rankings.
- Madison Mathiowetz averages 10.1 points per game on the season but is averaging 12.6 points over the last eight games at a nearly 50 percent clip.
- Tori Nelson ranks fifth all-time on SDSU's career games played chart (138). She has started every game this year and in each of the previous two seasons.
- Madysen Vlastuin plays more than 31 minutes per game and contributes 6.8 points on average. She is .413 from beyond the arc this year and 26 of her 34 made field goals this year have come from the 3-point line.
- South Dakota State is 50-1 in the Summit League regular season over the last four seasons, including 23-24. State was picked to win the Summit League regular season in the conference's preseason poll with 27 first-place votes.
