The Jackrabbits held a 39-30 lead at halftime, but St. Thomas overcame the deficit and went ahead 58-57 with just over nine minutes remaining. The Tommies led by as many as eight down the stretch, but the Jacks trimmed the margin to a single possession with 1:20 left. St. Thomas missed three of four free throws with under a minute on the clock, while

He's 28-for-47 (59.6%) from the field and 15-for-24 (62.5%) from deep since New Year's Eve.
Â
Mayo's shooting numbers mirror what the team has done offensively of late. Over the last four games, the Jackrabbits are shooting 57.5% and are 44.4% from 3-point range. The field goal percentage leader in Division I men's basketball this year is Wright State at a 54.1% mark, while Baylor is the 3-point percentage leader at 43.3%.
Â
After a series of close defeats this season, SDSU's win over St. Thomas represented their first with a one-possession result. The Jacks previously lost close contests to UCF (83-80), George Mason (73-71) and Weber State (73-71). SDSU improved its record to 8-1 when leading at halftime following its victory against the Tommies.
