South Dakota State heads into its final road trip of the 2024 regular season this week when the Jackrabbits travel north on Interstate 29 for a pair of matches. The Jacks face North Dakota State in Fargo at 6 p.m. on Thursday and play in Grand Forks at North Dakota at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The Jackrabbits are coming off a 1-1 draw in an Interstate Series match, presented by First Interstate Bank, against South Dakota this past Friday. SDSU, which earned a point with the tie, is in a four-way tie for first in The Summit League standings. The Jacks are 3-0-1 in conference play which puts them percentage points ahead of Omaha, Denver and NDSU who are all 3-1-1 as the four teams each have 10 points. North Dakota is currently eighth in the league standings with two points behind a 0-3-2 record.Â
The Jacks have already reached double-digit wins this season and hold a 10-2-2 overall mark. SDSU has now recorded at least 10 wins in 12 consecutive seasons. The Jacks boast more 10-plus win seasons (14) than any other league school since 2010.
Though SDSU's six match win streak came to a close, SDSU still maintains an 11-match unbeaten streak after the draw against the Coyotes. The span is the fourth longest in program history. That duration has seen the Jacks outscore opponents, 26-6, while SDSU has outshot every foe this season.
The Jacks go on their final road trip with a 7-1-1 record away from home. The seven wins are tied for the most road victories in a single season by a Jackrabbit squad. SDSU's previous seven-win road campaigns came in 2001 (7-4) and 2022 (7-0-1)
A variety of trends stick out through 14 matches. SDSU is 8-0 this year when scoring two-plus goals, while the Jacks are 9-1-2 when holding foes to one goal or less. South Dakota State is also among the nation's best in several categories. The Jacks rank second in the country in corner kicks per game (8.50), sixth in fouls per game (6.14) and 12th in shots per game (19.71).
SDSU holds a 17-11-3 record all-time versus NDSU. The Jackrabbits have won the last six meetings. SDSU is 14-3-1 against UND and won the last seven matchups.
