South Dakota State hosts Eastern Washington, then travels to Montana this week for the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge.
The Jackrabbits enter the week with a 5-2 record. SDSU has two wins over ranked opponent and two wins over Power 4 teams. Most recently, SDSU topped Ball State at Muncie, Indiana.
Eastern Washington is 2-5 on the year with wins over Walla Walla (NAIA) and CSU Bakersfield. Peyton Howard leads the Eagles in scoring (16.1 PPG), assists (3.6 PG) and steals (1.9 SPG). She is the only player scoring in double figures for EWU.
KEY STORYLINES
- South Dakota State takes on Eastern Washington and Montana this week for the second annual Big Sky-Summit League Challenge. The Jacks went 2-0 in the Challenge last season with wins over Northern Arizona and Montana State.
- The Jacks enter the week coming off a 63-55 win at Ball State Sunday, a game in which SDSU knocked down a season-high 11 3-pointers at a .500 clip.
- SDSU has gutted out its wins this year as five of seven games have been decided by eight or fewer points. The Jacks are 4-1 in those games.

- SDSU is shooting better than 37 percent from the 3-point line on the year, ranking 33rd in the nation. The Jacks have seven players with at least four triples this season, led by 11 from Haleigh Timmer.
- Brooklyn Meyer tallies team highs in scoring (16.3 PPG), rebounding (6.6 RPG) and blocks (1.0 BPG). She is 54 percent from the floor, one of four Jacks above 50 percent.
- Paige Meyer is doing a little bit of everything for SDSU, averaging 10.3 points, 5.0 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals per contest.
- Haleigh Timmer returns for her redshirt junior season after missing all of 2023-24 with an injury. She averages 12.8 points on 51 percent shooting.
- Mesa Byom averages 7.6 points and 5.6 rebounds. She is a team-high 55 percent from the floor and has knocked down one 3-pointer in every game.
- Freshman Katie Vasecka comes off the bench to score 7.6 points per game for the Jacks. She led the team with a career-high 17 points at Ball State.
