BROOKINGS, S.D. — The South Dakota State men's basketball team plays its final game ever in Frost Arena as the Jackrabbits prepare to host St. Thomas at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The Jacks will also recognize three seniors in
Luke Appel,
Charlie Easley and
Matt Mims pre-game ahead of the SDSU home finale.Â

The Jackrabbit trio of seniors have put up an impressive set of numbers during their time in Yellow and Blue. Mims has been on campus for six years, while Appel and Easley each have played in four seasons. During Mims's time in Brookings he's been on the roster for an NCAA Tournament and NIT appearance, two Summit League Tournament championships and four conference regular season titles. In the four seasons with Appel and Easley, SDSU has went 103-47 (.687).Â

The trio, along with all of Jackrabbit Nation, says 'Farewell Frost' on Saturday. The men's program enters the matchup with a 572-139 (.805) record all-time in the Frost Arena. Playing in its 52nd season inside the facility, SDSU has had over 2.3 million fans attend men's basketball games. The span saw SDSU competing at the Division II level into its current stay in Division I.Â

Frost Arena has played host to multiple memorable games, including postseason play. SDSU made multiple NCAA tournament showings during its Division II days with early rounds being held in Frost Arena. SDSU held regional round games in Frost in 1980, 1985, 1992, 1997, 1998 and 2002. The Jacks advance from Frost Arena to the Division II Final Four in 1985, while they qualified for the Elite Eight by way of Brookings in 1992 and 1997. SDSU also won a North Central Conference Tournament title in Frost in 1980.

The Jacks are coming off a 97-70 win over Denver on Thursday. The margin of victory was SDSU's largest over a Division I opponent this season and Denver's worst loss by margin. SDSU has won nine straight at home against the Pioneers.

St. Thomas fell at North Dakota State on Thursday, 64-50. The loss dropped the Tommies to 7-6 in conference play. They are tied for third with NDSU and Kansas City in The Summit League. SDSU at 9-4 is tied atop the conference ledger with North Dakota. A Second Team All-Summit League pick last year, Parker Bjorklund leads the Tommies in scoring (13.7) and rebounding (4.6).

South Dakota State's
Zeke Mayo hit a game-winning jumper with six seconds remaining in the Jackrabbits' first meeting this season at St. Thomas on Jan. 11.Â

SDSU held a 39-30 edge at halftime, but the Tommies worked their way into the lead at 58-57 with 9:02 to play. St. Thomas had a 77-70 edge with 2:37 on the clock and the Tommies were up 79-74 with 1:33 remaining. Down 80-77 with less than a minute left, Mayo hit a floater with 48 seconds on the clock. St. Thomas had a missed free throw on its ensuing possession, then Mayo made the game winner to give SDSU an 81-80 win. Mayo scored a game-high 25 points, while St. Thomas was paced in the score column by Raheem Anthony (21), Drake Dobbs (18) and Kendall Blue (17).

The Jackrabbits are 13-8 all-time against the Tommies as well as 9-2 in Brookings.
