SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota State's
Katherine Jones was selected as The Summit League Women's Soccer Defensive Peak Performer of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Jones helped the Jackrabbits secure two shutout victories during the past week that saw SDSU play three away matches. The Woodbury, Minn., native was a staple on the Jackrabbit back line in the Jackrabbits' 2-0 win over Northern Colorado on Aug. 19, as well as in SDSU's 3-0 victory Sunday at Wyoming. SDSU's other result included a 1-0 loss on Aug. 22 at Colorado College.
Jones helped contribute on the attack in both victories. She was credited with assists in the matches in Greeley and Laramie. Her two assists on the season currently leads the squad through four matches. She played the full 90 minutes in two of the three matches on the road.
The SDSU graduate student has previously been honored as a Summit League Peak Performer twice. She was the conference Tournament MVP a season ago, while she was named to The Summit League Player to Watch List prior to the 2024 campaign.
South Dakota State continues a five-game road stretch this week. The Jackrabbits are slated to take on Western Illinois next in Macomb at 5 p.m. CT.
