FRESNO, Calif. — Ninth-ranked Fresno State recorded a sweep in fences to lead the Bulldogs to a 15-4 victory over No. 10 South Dakota State in head-to-head equestrian competition Friday at the FSU Horse Center.
The Bulldogs were competing in their season opener while SDSU dropped to 2-1 overall.
All five FSU riders in fences posted scores of at least 80 in sweeping the category. Paloma Primavera led the way with a score of 88 to win her matchup against the Jackrabbits' Kendyl Rudolf by seven points.
Isabelle Malick turned in the highest score for South Dakota State in the event with an 84.
The Bulldogs continued their dominance in the jumping seat events by winning four of five points in flat. Sierra Elliott tallied the lone point for SDSU, claiming her matchup against Ryley Ferguson by a 77-73 margin.
SDSU's most success came in horsemanship as the Jackrabbits received point-producing performances from Hailey Hanson (68.5) and Anna Minich (74).
Closing out the Jackrabbit scoring was senior Adisyn Kuxhaus in reining with a 66.5-66 victory against Abby Goddard. SDSU's Emma Riggs tied in her matchup with Adrianna Runzo as both riders posted scores of 69.5 on CJ.Â
