South Dakota State takes on North Dakota State and South Dakota this week as the Jacks continue the Summit League slate. North Dakota State visits First Bank & Trust Arena Thursday night in a meeting of conference unbeatens. The Jacks go to Vermillion Saturday for the first Interstate Series meeting of the year.
KEY STORYLINES
- South Dakota State enters the weekend with an 11-3 overall record and unbeaten 5-0 mark in Summit League action. Most recently, SDSU topped St. Thomas 3-1 in a four-set battle at First Bank & Trust Arena.
- SDSU is rated 30th in the latest RPI rankings and is the No. 3 non-power conference team behind Creighton and UTEP.
- SDSU and NDSU are the last two undefeated teams in the Summit League.
- As a team, SDSU ranks eighth in the country with 2.94 blocks per set. Jackrabbit middles Sydni Schetnan and Madison Burr are 18th and 60th, respectively, in the country in blocks per set.
- Sylvie Zgonc averages 4.13 kills per set to lead SDSU's offense. Madison Burr (2.42) and Hannah Klein (2.40) also notch more than 2.0 kills per set overall.
- Rylee Martin averages 10.95 assists per set in conference matches, which leads the Summit League. Her 10.23 assists per set overall is 26th in the country.
- SDSU has five players averaging at least 2.2 digs per set, led by 3.21 digs per set from Joslyn Richardson.
- The Jackrabbits have three losses this season. Those opponents (Northern Iowa, Minnesota, Boise State) are a combined 39-13 this season.
- In conference games, SDSU leads the Summit League in points per set (17.84), hitting percentage (.270) and blocks (2.79).
- Sylvie Zgonc has at least 11 kills in every match this season and set a new season high with 22 against St. Thomas last week.
