BROOKINGS, S.D. - The South Dakota State volleyball team swept North Dakota State 25-21, 25-22, 25-18 Thursday night at First Bank & Trust Arena. With the victory, SDSU becomes the lone unbeaten team remaining in Summit League action.
The Jackrabbits notched 11 aces for the match, a season high in all contests and the most in a three-set match for the Jackrabbits since at least 2015.
Joslyn Richardson posted four aces to match her career best, followed by
Rachel Wieber with three aces.
Hannah Klein added a pair of aces and
Madison Burr and
Maggie Meister had one apiece.
Meister opened the contest with an ace on the first serve of set one. Klein put down consecutive aces to tie to game one at 12, and later Wieber gave the Jackrabbits the lead with an ace to go up 16-15. In set two, Richardson had a pair of aces during an early 4-0 run by SDSU. Following a late timeout by NDSU in the second set, Wieber dropped a serve inside the back corner to give the Jackrabbits the 25-22 win. Richardson, Wieber and Burr each posted an ace in set three as the Jackrabbits pulled away from the Bison.
SDSU hit .162 for the match, led by a .500 clip from
Sydni Schetnan. Schetnan put down seven kills on 14 errorless swings for the contest.
Madison Burr and
Sylvie Zgonc had eight kills apiece, and Klein matched Schetnan with seven kills.
Rylee Martin had 26 assists and three kills, one of which was the match winner.
Wieber paced the SDSU defense with 15 digs on the night. Richardson added 11 and Zgonc had nine. Burr, Schetnan and
Annalee Ventling-Brown had four blocks apiece.
North Dakota State's Baily Randall led all players with 11 kills. Libero Rya Borer tallied 19 digs.
SDSU improves to 12-3 on the season and 6-0 in the Summit League. NDSU moves to 11-5 overall and 5-1 in conference action.

North Dakota State leads the all-time series with South Dakota State 79-22. The Jackrabbits are 7-4 in the
Dan Georgalas era (Since the 2020-21 season).
UP NEXT
SDSU travels to Vermillion Saturday for a 6 p.m. matchup against South Dakota. It will be the first Interstate Series presented by First Interstate Bank competition of the volleyball season.
