EUGENE, Ore. – South Dakota State had the deficit down to one on multiple occasions late in the second half, but Oregon did enough to pull away for an 83-69 victory over the Jackrabbits in Matthew Knight Arena on Wednesday.

South Dakota State had a six-point lead in the early moments of the game before Oregon took over five minutes into the first half. SDSU trailed Oregon 40-34 at halftime with both teams having nearly identical numbers offensively. The Ducks' 20-15 rebound edge made a difference, resulting in six more field goal attempts for the home side.Â

Matthew Mors knocked in a jumper to begin the second half to trim the Ducks' advantage. Oregon responded hitting two straight 3-pointers to eventually put the Ducks ahead 48-38.Â

The Jackrabbits worked their way back into the contest.
Luke Haertle went on a personal seven-point scoring run to trim the margin to 59-58 with 9:30 to play.Â

The Ducks and Jacks traded baskets as a Sayler jumper made it 61-60 at the 8:19 mark.Â

SDSU had two opportunities to take the lead after missed field goals by Oregon. The Jacks were unable to connect on the offensive end and the Ducks followed with consecutive 3-pointers. South Dakota State was never able to get the game within a single possession again.

Oregon went 9-for-17 (52.9%) from deep in the second half after shooting just 6 of 23 in the opening 20 minutes. The Ducks finished 45.2% from the floor and ended with a 37-33 edge in rebounds. Oregon improved to 3-0 in the victory.

South Dakota State couldn't keep pace from deep as the Jacks hit five 3-pointers in the second half and eight total in the contest. The Jacks were also just 9 of 14 at the charity stripe, while shooting 44.1% from the floor, as they fell to 2-2 on the season.

- Three Jackrabbits scored in double digits. Sayler and Haertle each had a team-high 14 points. Sayler was 7 of 12 from the field while Haertle's output was his season high as he went 5-for-10 shooting.Â
- Jaden Jackson had 13 points while he, Haertle and Caleb Delzell tied for a team-best six rebounds. Delzell had season highs in rebounds and points (5) while playing a season-most 22 minutes. Mors picked up three steals for the Jackrabbits.Â
- SDSU had a 27-14 edge in bench points as well as a 26-18 advantage in points in the paint.
- Three Oregon Ducks finished in double digits scoring. Jackson Shelstad scoreda team-high 22 points followed by 20 from Takai Simpkins. Nate Bittle had a double-double behind 14 points and 10 rebounds. Â
