BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota State used a first-half scoring run to take control over Peru State on Monday, Nov. 17, en route a 94-46 win inside First Bank & Trust Arena. Â

Peru State made its first two 3-pointers of the night and briefly led by 6-2 and 8-4 scores. South Dakota State quickly responded.Â

A 14-0 run that lasted just over five minutes gave the Jackrabbits an 18-8 advantage. The Bobcats hit a 3-pointer to push the deficit to seven, but an ensuing nine-point scoring stretch extended the Jackrabbits' lead to double digits for good.

South Dakota State outshot Peru State 50-32% during the opening 20 minutes to hold a 46-22 halftime edge.

The Jackrabbits continued their strong shooting in the second half. SDSU finished the contest at 50% from the floor while holding Peru State to a 34% clip. The Jacks assisted on 23 of their 34 field goals on their way to the 48-point victory.

SDSU improved to 3-2 overall in the win. The game served as an exhibition for Peru State as the Bobcats sit at 4-4.

- Trey Buchanan led the Jackrabbits in scoring. He recorded a career-high 24 points on 8-for-11 from the field, including 5 of 7 from deep. Buchanan also had two steals.
- Damon Wilkinson scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Alec Squires recorded a career-high 13 points to go along with eight rebounds.
- Bubz Alvarez and Luke Haertle had team highs in assists with five apiece. Recording their first collegiate points in the contest for the Jacks were Andrell Burton Jr., Jadyn Cascio Jensen and Jaden Rogers.Â
- The Jackrabbits went 17-for-21 shooting free throws for a season-best 81% at the charity stripe. SDSU out-rebounded Peru State by a 52-24 margin. The 52 rebounds are the fourth most in a single game in the Jackrabbits' Division I era. SDSU's 23 assists were the team's most since a win last December against Chadron State.Â

South Dakota State is back in First Bank & Trust Arena to take on a Division I opponent on Friday. The Jackrabbits host Georgia State at 7 p.m. The game is a part of the Cancun Challenge event with SDSU's next two games from Nov. 25-26 in Cancun, Mexico.
