BROOKINGS, S.D. – The South Dakota State softball program had nine student-athletes who submitted their paperwork to join the Jackrabbits next fall, for the 2026-27 academic year, as a part of the start of the Signing Period that began on Wednesday.
Expected to make their way to Brookings next fall as freshmen are Lola Andrews (Burleson, Texas), Macy Bryant (Sioux Falls, S.D.), Lilly Bury (Loretto, Minn.), Mylie Hatfield (Ankeny, Iowa), Emerson Johnson (Gretna, Neb.), Brooklyn Kincaid (Omaha, Neb.), Charlee Latteman (Gardner, Kan.), Megan Marshall (Omaha, Neb.) and Adelaida Sierra (San Marcos, Texas).
"We couldn't be more excited to have these nine student-athletes join us at South Dakota State," SDSU head coach
Kristina McSweeney said. "This group is an extremely talented one that I think has several players that can make an impact on our program on the field right away. Not only that, they are a signing class that fits our family culture and embodies what it means to be Jackrabbits. We can't wait to have these nine join us on campus next fall!"
Lola Andrews | Catcher | R/R | Burleson Texas | Burleson HS
Lola Andrews currently attends Burleson High School in Texas. A standout behind the plate, Andrews was named her district's Catcher of the Year for the 2025 season. She was Burleson's Offensive Player of the Year and an Academic All-District selection.
Andrews hit .529 during the 2025 slate and recorded 37 RBIs. She's been a First Team All-District performer two consecutive years, while she was an honoarble mention as a freshman. Andrews plans to major in biology while attending South Dakota State.
Macy Bryant | Infield | L/R | Sioux Falls, S.D. | Jefferson HS
Macy Bryant joins the Jackrabbits following her graduating from Sioux Falls Jefferson High School.
Last spring Bryant helped lead the Cavaliers to the program's first state title. The 2025 season saw her hit .589 with six home runs, eight doubles, eight triples, 24 RBIs and 37 runs scored. Primarily a shortstop, Bryant has been a First Team All-State honoree twice as well as a three-time all-conference choice. Her first two years of her prep career were spent at Harrisburg High School. During that stretch, she played varsity and hit a combined .548 with seven home runs, 15 doubles, 12 triples, 50 RBIs and 67 runs scored.
Bryant has been an Academic Honor Roll recipient each year of her high school career. She recently joined National Honor Society. Bryant plans to major in nursing at SDSU.
Lilly Bury | Pitcher | R/R | Loretto, Minn. | Rockford HS
Lilly Bury will join SDSU's contingent in the circle. She's been a steady performer during the summer circuit as well as spring high school softball. She's recorded 400-plus strikeouts during her Rockford High School career and had a career-best .369 batting average her sophomore season at the plate.
Bury has been the Rockets' steady force pitching as she she's thrown 90-plus innings the past two seasons. She has been an all-conference performer four straight seasons of varsity softball. She was chosen for her program's Most Dedicated award in both 2024 and 2025. Bury was recently named to Minnesota Top Five Hardest Throwing Pitcher list. She's had as many as 16 strikeouts in a single game.
Bury has been on her schools' Honor Roll every year of her prep career. She also joined National Honor Society during this school year. An expected exercise science major, Bury's. father Keith played baseball at South Dakota State.
Mylie Hatfield | Utility | R/R | Ankeny, Iowa | Ankeny Centennial HS
Mylie Hatfield has been a mainstay for her summer club and Ankeny Centennial playing multiple positions on the diamond. This fall she hit .412 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs. The fall prior, Hatfield batted .619 with six home runs and 13 RBIs.
Hatfield's numbers have also been impressive during summer action. She has hit a combined 28 home runs and 131 RBIs over the last two summers combined, while she hit .444 in 2024.
Hatfield was a letterwinner in basketball during the 2023-24 season. She also has earned Academic Letter Awards in three years of her prep career. Hatfield plans to major in human biology at South Dakota State.
Emerson Johnson | 1st/Outfield | R/R | Gretna, Neb. | Gretna HS
Emerson Johnson joins the Yellow and Blue from Gretna High School. She is a member of a high school program that won the 2024 Nebraska Class A State Championship.
Johnson is a two-time Omaha World Herald Class A All-State 2nd Team selection and has been named honorable mention back-to-back years by the Lincoln Journal Star. She was a All-Nebraska 2nd Team performer previously as well as an All-Metro Team performer by the MCA.
Johnson batted .432 in 2025. She has earned multiple academic all-conference awards, been on her school's Honor Roll and is a member of National Honor Society. Johnson plans to major in nursing.
Brooklyn Kincaid | Infield | L/R | Omaha, Neb. | Omaha Marian HS
Brooklyn Kincaid attends Omaha Marian High School. Kincaid is primarily a shortstop and second baseman for the Crusaders.
Kincaid has earned consecutive Lincoln Journal Star 1st Team accolades, while she is a three-time honorable mention choice by the Omaha World Herald. As a senior this fall she hit .493 and had an on-base percentage of .611. She previously set her program record in stolen bases with 20 as a freshman, then topped it with 27 as a sophomore. Kincaid plans to study pre med at SDSU.
Charlee Latteman | 3rd/Utility | R/R | Gardner, Kan. | Gardner Edgerton HS
Charlee Latteman is a standout for Gardner Edgerton High School. Latteman earned the 2025 Sunflower League Player of the Year award, was First Team All-Sunflower League and picked as a First Team All-State honoree.
Her junior season saw her break her high school's records for home runs (13) and slugging percentage (1.234). She also batted .494. Latteman was previously an honorable mention for her all-conference team as a freshman and sophomore. Her 2024 campaign saw her hit .424 with five home runs.
Latteman has played four seasons of volleyball for the Blazers. She has had a 4.0 GPA and been on her school's Academic Honor Roll every year of her prep career. Latteman plans to major in accounting.
Megan Marshall | Infield | L/R | Omaha, Neb. | Gretna HS
Megan Marshall currently attends Gretna High School and also a member of the school's 2024 state championship team. Primarily a shortstop, Marshall earned numerous accolades in 2024. She was named All-Nebraska 1st Team, Class A First Team, all-conference, NFCA Region 1 First Team and Lincoln Journal Star Class A Second Team.
She also had success prior to that campaign. She was an honorable mention to state teams as a sophomore by the Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star, while she was a 2nd Team choice in 2022. Both 2022 and 2023 saw her named All-Metro Team. Marshall has a career batting average of .456.
Marshall has a sister, Jenna, that plays softball for Omaha. She also has another sister, Allison, that competes in soccer at Kansas State. Marshall plans to major in exercise science at South Dakota State.
Adelaida Sierra | Pitcher | R/R | San Marcos, Texas | Jack C. Hays HS
Adelaida Sierra is a First Team All-District pitcher for Jack C. Hays High School in San Marcos, Texas.
Sierra has served as a team captain. She has earned her high school team's Most Valuable Player Award for both offense and defense. Sierra set the Jack C. Hays record for strikeouts in a game with 18. She's been named an Athlete of the Week by the Austin American Statesman.
Sierra is a member of National Honor Society. She plans to major in physical therapy.
