BROOKINGS, S.D. - The South Dakota State women's golf program has announced the addition of three student-athletes to the roster for the 2026-27 season.
Brynn Balliet, Olivia Braun and Rylan Horning will join the Jackrabbits as freshmen next fall.
Brynn Balliet • 5-5 • Thornton, Colo.
Brynn Balliet will join the Jackrabbits following graduation from Riverdale Ridge High School.
Balliet led the Ravens to a Colorado state title as a junior last spring and captured a fourth place individual finish. She was named the Longs Peak player of the year and was the conference individual champion in four straight seasons (2022-25). She averaged 77.1 shots per round in her junior campaign.
Balliet is involved in numerous academic and volunteer activities, including National Honor Society, golf coaching and work in her church. She is also a golf team captain.
Balliet is the daughter of Wade Balliet and Michelle Balliet. Her father played golf at North Dakota. Brynn plans to major in nursing at South Dakota State.
Olivia Braun • 5-6 • Aberdeen, S.D.
Olivia Braun will make the move to Brookings from Aberdeen, where she is a senior at Central High School.
Braun was the South Dakota individual state champion in 2025, leading the Eagles to a first place team finish. She was the individual runner-up in 2024 and placed third in 2023. Braun was also the conference champion in 2025 and placed second in both 2022 and 2023. In total, Braun is a five-time all-state and all-conference honoree. She averaged 70 shots per round as a junior.
Braun has also been the South Dakota Amateur runner-up, South Dakota Match Play runner-up, SDGA Two-Woman runner-up, South Dakota Junior champion and South Dakota Junior Golfer of the Year. She is a three-time Sanford Futures champion and four-time SDGA Sanford International Series point leader.
Braun is the daughter of Natalie Braun and plans to major in healthcare systems engineering.
Rylan Horning • 5-4 • Rapid City, S.D.
Rylan Horning, a senior at St. Thomas More High School, set to enroll at SDSU following her senior season with the Cavaliers.
Horning is a two-time South Dakota Class A state champion, winning medalist honors as a freshman and as a junior. She finished in fourth place at the state tournament in her seventh and eighth grade season and missed her sophomore campaign with an injury.
Horning helped the Cavalier team finished first at state in 2025 and third in 2023.
Horning was named toe Junior Female Golfer of the Year for 2025. She won the SDGA Girls Junior Championship in Mitchell and earned two SDGA Sanford International Series Junior Tour victories. Horning finished fourth in the SDGA Women's Amateur Championship, reached the quarterfinals in the SDGA Women's Match Play Championship and notched a fourth place finish in the SDGA Two-Woman Championship.
Horning owns the women's single-round record (64) at the Madison Country Club, which she sent in 2025. She qualified for the Notah Begay III Championship and earned a first place finish at the SDGA Junior Championship for 16-18 Girls.
Horning is a member of honor roll and National Honor Society. She was the recipient of the Cavalier Pride Award in 2021.
Horning is the daughter of Dustin and Ashley Horning. She plans to major in pharmacy at South Dakota State.
