ST. PAUL, Minn. — Sophomores Zavier Kranz and David Bosch each claimed individual titles Friday as the South Dakota State men's swimming and diving team remained in contention for the team title during the middle day of competition at the St. Thomas Invite at the Anderson Pool.
Kranz swam his way to a title in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 1 minute, 38.77 seconds. Teammate Landon Schemel placed third in 1:40.89 as the Jackrabbits made up one-half of the four-person A final.
Kranz's winning time in the 200 freestyle moved him into fourth place on the SDSU career charts.
Bosch, meanwhile, improved on his No. 2 standing in the 100 breaststroke on two occasions Friday. He recorded a time of 55.01 seconds in the morning prelims, then shaved another .35 seconds off that mark with a winning time of 54.68 seconds during the night session. Teammate and school-record holder Nik Keuser placed third in 55.27 seconds while freshman Colt Frein posted the seventh-best mark in program history in the event at 55.77 seconds in placing eighth.
A native of Windsor, Colorado, Bosch also qualified for the B final in the 100 butterfly as four Jackrabbits placed in the top 10 of the event.
