South Dakota State continues its showing in the 2025 Summit League Women's Soccer Championship on Thursday when the Jackrabbits return to the pitch. SDSU heads to Tulsa, Okla., to face Denver in the semifinals of the conference tournament which is set for a 1 p.m. first kick at the Case Soccer Complex.
The Jackrabbits opened tournament play this past Saturday at home with a quarterfinal meeting versus Omaha. SDSU capitalized on a seventh minute goal courtesy of a
Jenna Maloy header. The Jacks thwarted the Mavericks from an equalizer at Fishback Soccer Park to advance to the portion of the tournament hosted by Oral Roberts.
SDSU and Denver have an extensive history in The Summit League tournament. The two sides met a season ago in Fargo with the exact same seeding as the No. 3 Jackrabbits squared off against the No. 2 Pioneers. The Jackrabbits got the semifinal started with a penalty kick goal in the 29th minute. SDSU extended the advantage to 2-0 in the 61st minute. The Pios cut the deficit to 2-1, but their goal came in the 89th minute. SDSU went on to beat Oral Roberts in the championship game, 3-1, to claim its second consecutive Summit League tournament title.
The Jackrabbits hold a 2-0-3 record against the Pioneers all-time in the postseason. SDSU beat Denver, 4-2 in 2021 championship game, then won the title via penalty kicks in 2014, 2016 and 2019.
The Jacks fell to 8-6-4 all-time against the Pioneers with a 1-0 defeat at Denver nearly a month ago on Oct. 9. Lilly Lund scored a 21st minute goal for the Pioneers off a corner kick to put the home side ahead. SDSU finished the night with a 19-10 edge in shots, but the Jackrabbits were unable to come up with an equalizer.
SDSU's victory over Omaha to begin postseason play improved the Jackrabbits to 11-2-6 overall. The Jacks have now achieved at least 11 victories in all nine seasons that
Brock Thompson has guided the program. Including the 2025 campaign, the SDSU program's top seasons by winning percentage have all come within the past seven seasons (since 2019).Â
The Jackrabbits came into postseason play as the back-to-back Summit League tournament champions. SDSU is now 6-0-3 all-time in the conference tournament as the No. 3 seed. The Jacks have won the Summit League title -- and earned NCAA Tournament berths in the process -- in 2008, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2024.Â
The Summit League announced its awards and all-conference teams last Thursday. Headlining SDSU's honors was

Lauren Eckerle.
