BROOKINGS, S.D. - The South Dakota State women's basketball team took control early and beat Weber State 87-56 Wednesday night at First Bank & Trust Arena.
The Jackrabbits jumped out to an 11-2 lead early on and stretched their advantage to 30 by halftime behind 52% shooting and a 15-for-15 effort from the free throw line for the first half. SDSU led by as many as 43 points on its way to a 31-point victory in the first game of the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge this year.
Brooklyn Meyer put up 19 points in 21 minutes and was one of seven Jackrabbit players to finish with at least eight points.
Brooklynn Felchle, a freshman, posted a career high with 11 points in 13 minutes off the bench.
Maggie Hartwig posted her first double-double as a Jackrabbit, finishing with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Madison Mathiowetz and
Ellie Colbeck also contributed 10 points apiece.
Emilee Fox and
Abby Hoselton had eight points each, a career-high mark for Hoselton.
After Hartwig, Meyer and
Mahli Abdouch grabbed six rebounds each as the Jackrabbits' second leading rebounders. Colbeck dished a team-high four assists.
All 13 Jackrabbits played at least eight minutes in the contest, with all making an appearance in the first half.
SDSU finished the game 47% from the floor and 23-of-30 from the free throw line. The Jackrabbits out-rebounded the Wildcats 53-30.
Weber State was led by 13 points from Lance Billy. The Wildcats shot 30% for the game.
South Dakota State improves to 7-2 on the season. Weber State falls to 2-6.
