Sam Castle continues to impress as he topped his 800-meter personal record to move up the top 10 list last weekend. Castle clocked a time of 1:50.94 to win the event and become the third-fastest performer in program history. Along with his stellar 800-meter performance, Castle also assisted the men's 4X400-meter team in posting the fastest run seen in program history. The relay team, consisting of Lucas Flemmer, Castle, Thailan Hallman, and James Pierce, clocked a combined time of 3:12.12 to take the program record and win the event.
Brielle Dixon continues to dominate as the senior once again topped her 60-hurdles program record. Dixon won the event with a time of 8.26, which is currently the fastest time in the league this season. Following her 60-hurdles record-breaking performance, Dixon returned to the line moments later to compete in the finals of the 60-meter dash. The senior clocked another personal record, crossing the line at 7.51 to finish runner-up. Dixon's time is currently fourth-fastest in the conference this season and placed her as the fourth-best 60-meter performer in Jackrabbit history.
LAST TIME OUT
Hunter Wallster posted a personal record in weight throw during day one of the SDSU Classic. Wallster threw 65-11.50 (20.10m) to win the event and become the third-best performer in SDSU history. Caiden Fredrick finished runner-up behind Wallster with a mark of 62-11.25 (19.18m). Ethan Fischer and Ryan Hackbart rounded out the Jackrabbit lineup as Fischer finished fourth with a mark of 60-08.00 (18.49m) while Hackbart took seventh with a mark of 56-06.50 (17.23m).
For sprints, Ellie Harris and Sian O'Sullivan made their mark on the all-time list. Harris took fifth in the 200-meter invitational with a time of 24.97 to become the eighth-fastest performer in program history. O'Sullivan won the 200-meter open at 24.95 to make the all-time list as the seventh-best performer in Jackrabbit history.
Lindsey Rotz and Grace Waage competed in the 800-meter. Rotz clocked a time of 2:10.75 to finish runner-up, while Waage took third with a time of 2:11.10. Both Rotz and Waage moved up the top 10 all-time list as Rotz's time solidified her as the third-fastest performer in program history, while Waage's performance set her at fourth-fastest.
On day two, the Jackrabbit men swept the long jump. Rylan McDonnell led the way with a leap of 22-10.00 (6.96m) to finish first, Isaac Flanegan landed a mark of 22-05.00 (6.83m) to secure silver, and Hudson Schroeder took bronze with a jump of 22-01.50 (6.74m).
The men's team produced a solid performance in the 60-meter dash. Carter Toews clocked a time of 6.84 to finish runner-up, Evan Henderson clutched bronze with a mark of 6.85, and Jake Werner posted a time of 6.90 to take fourth.
Later in the night, Toews competed in the 200-meter invitational, finishing second with a time of 21.60. On the women's side, Maggie Madsen clutched bronze with a time of 24.88.
RANKINGS
USTFCCCA released its conference and regional rankings on Tuesday. The Jackrabbit men stayed solid at second in the Summit League but fell to 18th in the Midwest region. The women held steady in their conference ranking of fourth and improved to 20th in the region.
