PALM DESERT, Calif. - The South Dakota State mens' golf team is in 13th place following the opening round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at Class Club.
As a team, SDSU posted a 292 (+4) score for the first 18 holes. The Jacks are four shots off the top half of the field. Charlotte and Colorado Christian are tied for first place with -13 team scorecards.
The Jackrabbits were paced by
Ty Kretz and
Bryson Mercier Monday. The duo is tied for 18th place at 2-under and recorded five birdies apiece.
Jake Olson sits three strokes behind his leading teammates and is tied for 46th place.
Blake Schaper is +7 (t-82nd) and
Tyler Seeling is +8 (t-84th).
Jake Weissenburger (Drake), Xavier Bighaus (Colorado Christian) and Kaelen Dulany (UTSA) each fired a 65 (-7) over the opening lap and are co-leaders heading into day two.
The Jacks return to the course at 9 a.m. Tuesday for round two. The final round will be played Wednesday.
