South Dakota State lost to 10th-ranked Baylor, 15-4, in head-to-head equestrian action Friday at the DeHaan Equestrian Center.

The defeat drops South Dakota State to 2-8 on the year.

The Jackrabbits and Bears split 2-2 in reining. Senior Lydia Loken tallied the highest score for both teams as she took down Emily Moomaw, 70.5-67.5, earning Most Outstanding Performer honors in the event.

Adisyn Kuxhaus notched SDSU's other score with a victory over Isabella Hehr 68.5-62.

Emma Riggs and Baylor's Riley Cachat tied at 66.5, while Jackrabbit teammates Ada Hirschfeld and Emilie Strahm both lost matchups decided by half a point. Hirschfeld lost 67.5-67 against Sadie Peters and Kalena Reynolds beat Strahm, 70-69.5.

Paige Wellendorf took her third victory of the season in horsemanship, this time against Gianna Pozzi, 72.5-68. Hannah Dutton followed suit with a 71-67.5 win over Taylor Smith. Baylor rider Anna Thron outlasted Anna Minich, 73-71.5, with Thron being selected as the MOP.

Originally, Avery Bergan scored a 68.5, but she and Alexis Rutledge competed in a re-ride at the end of the competition which saw Rutledge ride away with a 67.5-60.5 win.

In fences, Baylor pulled away 4-1 against the Jacks with Lauren Jorgensen riding away with the MOP award with a score of 88 over Brooke Borges.

Sarah Gould scored SDSU's only point of the discipline, handily defeating Juliette Earley, 83-55.

Hannah Steele lost to Madison Mitchell, 83-79, while Baylor rider Emma Covarrubis defeated Juliana Gullo, 82-65, on Joey.

To round out fences, Lauren Reid's ride of 86 was able to beat SDSU's highest-scoring ride of 84, which was recorded by Samantha Aisenberg.

The Bears took the flat discipline in a 5-0 clean sweep over the Jackrabbits. Mitchell's 84-79 victory over Kayla Scherer earned her the MOP for the discipline. Kendyl Rudolf also scored a 79 for SDSU, but suffered a one point defeat against Reid, 80-79.

Caroline Robelen tallied the flat high score of 86 and beat Steele, 86-62, while Earley took down Sierra Elliott, 81-70. SDSU's Elizabeth Wagner lost by a single point to Baylor's Lauren Stebbins, 67-66.

The Jackrabbits will compete Saturday against Minnesota Crookston for Senior Day at the DeHaan Equestrian Center with a start time slated for 1 p.m., following the Minnesota Crookston and Baylor match.
