KILDEER, Ill. – The South Dakota State men's golf team is in fourth place after the first day of the Kemper Lakes Intercollegiate hosted by Belmont. The Jacks sit at 25-over as a team, two shots behind third-place Belmont (+23) in the 12-team field.
SDSU opened with a team score of 12-over in round one before posting a 13-over in round two. Drake and South Dakota share the lead at 8-over, 17 shots ahead of the Jacks. The Jacks hold a 14-shot cushion over fifth-place Illinois State (+39).
Jacob Wilson leads the Jacks and sits fourth individually at two-over after rounds of 72 and 74. The sophomore carded five birdies on the day.
Ty Adkins is tied for fifth at four-over after shooting 72 and 76. He had a team-high 10 birdies on the day, six in round one and four in round two.
Drew Teeter and Caleb Kern are tied for 34th at 12-over. Teeter followed an opening 82 with a 74 in round two, while Kern shot 79 and 77. Jake Olson is tied for 47th at 16-over after rounds of 77 and 83.
Competing as an individual, Hayden Scott is tied for 20th at eight-over. He eagled the par-5 fourth hole in round one.
